Bell & Ross was founded in 1993, as a university project by lifelong friends Bruno Belamich (Bell) and Carlos A. Rosillo (Ross). They came at watchmaking from an engineering and specific purpose design perspective and initially collaborated with Helmut Sinn of Sinn watches. Rebranded Sinn models such as the 103 and Space 1 that bore the Bell & Ross logo were early B&R releases and then in 1996 the Bell & Ross Bomb Disposal Type watch was released. This ultra-legible, anti-magnetic watch was designed to be worn by bomb squad members of the French Security Services and the next timepiece was equally impressive the Hydro Challenger which was one of the most capable dive watches ever made, with a world record setting 11,100 meter rating and had a mineral oil filled case. In 2002 Bell & Ross began its own independent production in its facilities La Chaux-de-Fonds, Switzerland and began to specialize in watches geared toward pilots and aviation. Today BR 01, BR 02, BRS, Vintage 123, Vintage 126 & BR 03-94 watches are made with automatic and quartz battery movements and can feature chronograph, power reserve, skeleton, tourbillon, rose gold, carbon fiber, tianium and diamond features.
